GENERAL SEASONS & AREAS:

Early Mountain Quail Season & Areas (Zone Q1): (Mountain Quail only)
Alpine, Butte, Del Norte, Glenn, Humbolt, Inyo, Lassen, Modoc, Mono, Plumas, Shasta, Sierra, Siskiyou, Tehama, Trinity, and those portions of Amador, Calavaras, El Dorado, Fresno, Madera, Mariposa, Nevada, Placer, Tuolomne, Tulare, and Yuba counties lying east of the western boundary of the national forests.
The second Saturday in September extending through the Friday prior to the third Saturday in October (Sep 11 - Oct 15).

General Seasons & Areas (Zone Q1): (All Species)
Alpine, Butte, Del Norte, Glenn, Humbolt, Inyo, Lassen, Modoc, Mono, Plumas, Shasta, Sierra, Siskiyou, Tehama, Trinity, and those portions of Amador, Calavaras, El Dorado, Fresno, Madera, Mariposa, Nevada, Placer, Tuolomne, Tulare, and Yuba counties lying east of the western boundary of the national forests.
The third Saturday in October extending through the last Sunday in January (Oct 16 - Jan 30).

Early Coastal Season & Areas (Zone Q2): (All Species)
Marin, Napa, Solano, Sonoma, Lake, & Mendocino Counties:
The last Saturday in September extending through the last Sunday in January (Sep 25 - Jan 30).

Balance of the State Season (Zone Q3): (All Species)
Includes the remaining land area not included in Zone Q2.
The third Saturday in October extending through the last Sunday in January (Oct 16 - Jan 30).

ARCHERY SEASONS & AREAS:

Statewide (all species):
The third Saturday in August extending for 21 consecutive days (Aug 21 - Sep 10) and during the general seasons as follows:

Early Mountain Quail Season (Zone Q1):
(Mountain Quail only)
(The second Saturday in September extending through the Friday prior to the third Saturday in October.)

General Quail Season (Zone Q1):
(All Species)
(The third Saturday in October extending through the last Sunday in January.)

Early Coastal Season (Zone Q2):
(All Species)
(The last Saturday in September extending through the last Sunday in January.)

Balance of the State Season (Zone Q3):
(All Species)
(The third Saturday in October extending through the last Sunday in January.)

Daily Bag Limit:
10 quail in any combination of species per day.

Possession Limit:
Double the daily bag limit.
Shoot Time:
One half hour before sunrise to sunset.
Quail Hunting:
To hunt quail, you must possess a valid California hunting license and an upland game bird stamp. Hunters under the age of 12 may hunt if they have taken and passed a hunter safety course and possess a valid California hunting license.
